The Nasinu Magistrates Court has transferred the case of a man who allegedly beat up his wife to the Suva High Court.

It is alleged that the 24-year-old slapped and punched his 24-year-old de-facto partner’s face on Tuesday.

The man is also alleged to have used a stick and lead wire to beat her.

He has been charged with one count of act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Prosecution said the matter was indictable and the case should be transferred to Suva High Court.

A domestic violence restraining order has been put in place.

The matter will be recalled on February 1st in Suva High Court.
