A twenty-one-year-old driver alleged to have caused an accident on Thursday, which resulted in the death of two men in Lautoka has been released on bail by the Lautoka Magistrates court.
Deepal Kumar appeared before Magistrate Bandula Gunaratne this afternoon charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death and one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Kumar was released on $1000 bail with two sureties in the sum of $500.
A stop departure has also been issued against him and he has been ordered to surrender his driving license.
The victims from Wairabetia were passengers in a vehicle with three others traveling towards Lautoka when the incident happened.
It is alleged that Kumar lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and hit a tree at the junction of Natabua and the Queens Road.
The matter has been adjourned to 5th February next year.
