Guns in mosques are all lies: Bainimarama

October 28, 2018 7:10 pm

Stop spreading fear and hate because there are no guns in mosques and Muslims will not and cannot take over our country.

Speaking on Radio Fiji One’s talkback show ‘Navakekeli’, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has lashed out at persistent religiously bigoted and hate speech on social media that’s being spread by opponents of his government.

Bainimarama has assured all Fijians that their security is paramount, and says these are the same disgraceful and racist politicians that spread the same fear and hate from four years ago just to win votes again.

Bainimarama says our country and its people are well protected and the lies to divide our country should not be believed.

He says politicians and their supporters circulating this type of information are trying their hardest to destroy our country by creating ethnic and religious differences in a Fiji that he has worked so hard to unite.

The Prime Minister says this is the main reason why the Great Council of Chiefs was abolished.

Bainimarama says SODELPA’s plans to reinstate the GCC is one of the reasons why many Fijians don’t support SODELPA because many chiefs in the GCC, instigated the political upheavals of 1987 and 2000.
