Colo-I-Suva attempted murderer pleads not guilty

A 28-year-old man who allegedly attempted to murder his partner by drowning her in Colo-I-Suva last month pleaded not guilty to his charge at the Suva high court this morning.

Rajiv Padyachi is charged with one count of attempted murder.

It’s alleged that on the 15th of last month, the military officer by profession attempted to murder his girlfriend at the well-known rainforest park.

The prosecution today informed the court they will be relying on the statements as there has been no admission from the caution interview.

Meanwhile, the defense has requested a phone record between the accused and the complainant between September 15th to 17th.

The defense is also expected to file bail variation.

Gavin O’Driscoll informed the court that his client currently reports twice a week at the police station as part of his bail condition and they have sought variation for his client to report only once a week.

The matter has been adjourned to December 6th.
