July 25, 2018 10:55 pm

The newly introduced safety action program of site visits by managers and supervisors of the Fulton Hogan Hiways has resulted in an improved safety record.

The program was implemented a year ago and is now showing impressive results.

The safety action program requires each member to make a minimum of four safety action visits a month to reinforce and improve safety management.

Fulton Hogan’s Safety Manager John Tinsley says there have been 350 safety action visits in January, 400 in February and March, 500 in April and 511 in May.

He adds this program has reduced lost time injury when an employee is off work for a day or more.

He adds it has also reduced medically treated injuries where employees are treated by a doctor.
