LTA pleads with public to use road responsibly

The recent deaths of four men and a young child on our roads in a spate of eleven days is a major concern for the LTA.

The Authority is calling on Fijians use roads responsibly and safely.

On July 14th in Bua, Vanua Levu a young man was involved in a fatal crash followed by an accident in Kasavu, Nausori where the car in which two men were travelling in veered off the road and ended up in the Rewa River.

On Saturday night, a seven-year-old was involved in another accident at Tamavua-I Wai Bridge in Lami.

Earlier this morning, a 30-year-old man lost his life in Tokotoko and was pronounced dead in Navua Hospital.

LTA Board Chairman, Vijay Maharaj says losing these young lives due to carelessness on the road could have been avoided.

The road death toll currently stands at 36 compared to 36 for the same period last year.
