FRA aims for local contractors

January 1, 2018 5:55 pm

The Fiji Roads Authority is looking at getting as many local contractors as they can to undertake their projects.

Chief Executive, Jonathan Moore says they are working to break maintenance contracts to small packages so that local contractors can be qualified.

”We want to get a little bit of opportunity to get local contractors to involve In maintenance so to do that we have started in smaller packages, But what we are not doing is we are not restricting how many that can tender for, so one contractor could get one package or could get 12 packages if its process well, it’s an open market and it’s all commercially determined.”

Moore says their current contractors have done a great job last year and extension of their contracts will be determined by the board.

He adds all FRA contracts are open to all local and international markets which are commercially determined.
