The Fiji Navy has sent recommendations to Police and the Maritime Safety Authority over their concern over a possible oil spill from the ill-fated cargo barge Kaiwai.

The Kaiwai had 40 tonnes of 200 litre diesel drums on-board when it capsized Tuesday early morning east of Bukama Island in the Yasawas.

Yesterday, the Navy suspended its aerial search for the missing man lost in the tragic accident, however the coastal search with Police assisted by Logana and Dalomo villagers continues.
