Two decades of struggle over for residents

Over one hundred residents and farmers living along Matuku Road in Tailevu are getting their first road upgrade in twenty years.

Matuku Village headman, Paula Tikoi says the road had deteriorated to an extent where it was difficult to even drive a four-wheel drive.

The upgrade will give twenty children and ten farmers easier access to school and the markets.

The road is about thirty kilometers outside Korovou.

Fulton Hogan Hiways cleared overgrown grass and constructed a new drainage system, graveled and graded the road surface making it safe to drive and walk along.
