Fiji Navy to get new equipment

The Hydrographic department in the Royal Fiji Navy will soon get new equipment to help in their development.

United Kingdom Hydrographer, Rear Admiral Tim Lowe says the new equipment will go a long way for the Fiji Navy in terms of charting the island and the waters.

“They are going to get some new sonar equipment. They are also going to get a boat. The department itself is looking to develop both its hydrographic and its oceanographic capabilities.”

Lowe says Fiji is one of the leaders’ in hydrography within the region.

He adds that new equipment are expected to arrive in the country later this year and early next year.
