PM traditionally farewelled for COP23

Prime Minister and COP23 President Voreqe Bainimarama was traditionally farewelled by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs today before leaving for Bonn, Germany.

Bainimarama says that during the meeting in Germany, he will not only be representing Fiji but all the small island developing states.

He says that its time for developing countries to stand up and tell the developed countries that people in the Pacific Region are suffering the most when it comes to climate change.

Bainimarama adds that being the President of COP23 provides a platform for the Pacific Region to have a voice.

The Prime Minister says the farewell ceremony has given him confidence in representing the nation.

More than 7,000 people will be attending the COP23 meeting on the first day and Bainimarama will leave next Monday.
