The University of Fiji in Saweni, Lautoka received a grant of $3.4 million in the 2017/2018 National Budget.
UniFiji vice-chancellor- Professor Prem Misir says this is a $1.1 million increase from what the university received last year.
“Whatever little we have we content with. But we do a lot more with very little. If you want to compare, compare that and then you will see the difference. I’m not be grudging or anything like that, I think they have a lot of students and therefore the amount of money you get, you know has to be related to those numbers.”
The University of the South Pacific has a grant of $30 million while Fiji National University received a grant of $56 million.
The university will hold its open day this Friday and Saturday for its campuses in Suva and Lautoka.
