Fiji lose to New Zealand in Sydney 7s semi-final

The Vodafone Fiji 7’s team has bowed out at the semi-final stage of the Syndey tournament in Australia.

In a close encounter, the Fijians went down to New Zealand 14-12.

The Wellington 7’s winners dominated the first half with two tries to lead 14-nil at the break.

Fiji came back strongly in the second half and scored tries through Isake Katonibau and Vatemo Ravouvou but it wasn’t enough.

Fiji will now play South Africa in the third place play off.

Australia defeated South Africa in the second semi-final 12-7.

Australia will play New Zealand in the Cup final at 8.04pm.
