Cyclone Ula to affect Lakeba by tomorrow

Tropical Cyclone Ula has now intensified into category 3.

Meteorology Director – Ravin Kumar says the Island of Lakeba will feel the brunt of Ula by tomorrow morning.

’First of all tropical Cyclone Ula has slowed down over the last 12 hours however in slowing down it has intensified into a category 3 system and it is expected to maintain a south-south west track in the next 24-48 hours. And on this projected path we expect Tropical Cyclone Ula to lie about 520km East of Lakeba Island at 4am tomorrow and about 60km East of Lakeba at 4am on Sunday."

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Eastern and Northern Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and the Mamanuca group.
