FTA president Gauna Halofaki retains seat

Ten positions have been filled at the Fijian Teachers Association following a two weeks union election- the largest so far conducted by the Fijian Elections Office.

President Gauna Halofaki has retained his position with a landslide victory of 776 votes.

FTA’s Vice President Bani Druavesi has also retained his seat with 679 votes and will be assisted by newly elected Aisake Tuapati who managed to rake in 611 votes.

Tavisa Iva Powell has been elected as the Assistant Secretary with 726 votes and Semi Vela has been elected as the Associations Treasurer with 651 votes- both are new to the elected seats.

Newly elected Masirewa Vakalalabure and Elemaca Ravulo joins Nanise Kamikamica, Mereia Vunibaka and Meli Yabakivou as Committee members.

A total of 3277 members were eligible to vote however only 1305 cast their vote.
