Kerry congratulates Fiji for 45th independence anniversary

US Secretary of State John Kerry has issued a congratulatory message to Fiji on its 45th independence anniversary on October 10.

Kerry says the United States commends Fiji for its continued work to strengthen its institutions and create an open, democratic, and prosperous society.

He says the US recognizes Fiji’s tireless efforts to contribute to global security, highlight the challenges of climate change, and promote environmental protection of our oceans.

Kerry adds on this joyful occasion, the US expresses its firm support for Fiji as its citizens strive for greater peace and prosperity.

He says the US wishes success to Fiji in the future as we work together to build a vibrant and dynamic community in the Pacific region.

Kerry issued the statement on behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States.
