Road closure in parts of Suva for Fiji Day celebrations

The public is advised that certain roads in the Laucala Bay area, Suva will be closed for the Fiji Day Celebrations tomorrow.

The celebrations in Suva will involve a march from the Vatuwaqa Primary School to the Bidesi Grounds next to the ANZ Stadium.

As such, the junction off Grantham Road into Laucala Bay Road and the junction off Queen Elizabeth Drive off Laucala Bay Road will be closed from 7:45am – 9:30am.

Another national celebration ceremony will be held in the afternoon also at Bidesi Park and Queen Elizabeth Drive from the Muanikau junction to the junction of Laucala Bay Road will be temporarily closed off from 2pm – 3:30pm.

The public is advised to seek alternative routes during these times.
Meanwhile, People in the Northern Division are expected to converge in numbers at the Fiji Day Celebration in Subrail Park, Labasa tomorrow.

Celebrations begin with a march from Y-Corner to Subrail Park ground on Friday morning and will see the participation of all government departments and schools.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea says the theme “Togetherness in Harmony for a Prosperous Fiji” is dedicated to celebrating Fiji’s achievements, encourage patriotism and nation building and to promote our hopes for the future.

Vocea is encouraging the people of Vanua Levu to attend the celebration in numbers.
