The Suva High Court has sentenced Josateki Tabua to life imprisonment for the attempted murder of his de-facto partner.

Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando has also ordered a permanent Domestic Violence Restraining Order for the protection of the victim.

The court heard that Tabua had stabbed his former partner on the chest causing serious injuries after an argument in October, 2013.

Tabua has a non-parole period of eight-years.
