Talei eyes Flying Fijian jumper

*Hard-running flanker, Netani Talei is determined to secure a spot in the Vodafone Flying Fijians squad to the World Cup next month.

The 32 year old joined the squad late last week after recovering from a foot injury.

The Harlequins forward will receive some stiff competition with players such as Akapusi Qera, Sakiusa Matadigo, Malakai Ravulo and Peceli Yato.

“There’s a lot of back-rowers at the moment. I’m just taking each day as it comes. I’m just happy to be here, take my chances and see what happens. What’s the worst that could happen; at the end of the day, the boys will go in, whatever team is selected and make the country proud.”

The Flying Fijians will march back into camp today in Suva.

Coach John McKee will name his final 31-member squad to the World Cup on Friday.
