Air New Zealand’s decision to operate its Dreamliner to Fiji from Auckland towards the end of the year, summer could mean cheaper fares for the travelling public.

This was highlighted by Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association Dixon Seeto.

However, he also adds that in order to see a truly remarkable increase in visitor numbers, we have to look for new ports.

“The Dreamliner is a wonderful aircraft. It is an aircraft of the future it has very low operating costs and it will hopefully have an impact on the cost of operations and now with the lower fuel prices the combined effect could be lower fares. That’s something that the travelling public and we in Tourism in Fiji look forward to because it generally will generate additional traffic that way.”

The Dreamliner will initially operate two new services per week building to five during the peak mid-December to late January period.

It will be the first time its Dreamliner has operated in the Pacific Islands.
