There will be more provisions for the senior citizens in the new elderly decree.

Last year, a National Policy on Aging was adopted by the cabinet and this protects the rights of elderly in Fiji.

However, Khan says while the policy is comprehensive, it needs some revision before being included in the new decree.

It is expected that the new decree will not only provide inclusive society for the elderly people in our country but will also provide a vibrant and productive sector for the senior citizens in Fiji.
