Businesses in Nadi will take weeks and months to normalise.

The massive destruction by the recent floods has left Nadi Town in a sorry state according to the Nadi Chamber of Commerce President Doctor Ram Raju.

“It will take several weeks before we can re start our business again, everybody lost their entire stock ,100 percent losses to every business house in town so it is going to take a considerable amount of time before we get started again.”

While some may be ready by next week to kick start their usual business, Raju claims the recent disaster as one of the worst in its history not only for Nadi but for Fiji as a whole.

“This is the most devastating floods which we can ever recall which has destroyed just about all the shops in town and losses cannot be estimated at this point in time.”

Shop owners are busy with repairs and some have even reordered new stock from their suppliers abroad.
