Fiji football star Roy Krishna is gearing up for a comeback after a seven-month recovery, putting to rest rumors of a return to a local Fijian club.

Krishna told FBC Sports that he and his team are in active talks with several Indian clubs about the next chapter in his career.

“Look, rumors are rumors, I’m just here, and people are asking me, I have no clue, clubs are approaching me, which I won’t lie, but my main focus, I told everyone that I’m very close to coming on to play, but my main focus is to get back to my fitness, and I can’t just be excited to jump on the field and then go back to square one, which is the hardest part.”

The 37-year-old striker’s 2024-25 season ended abruptly in December after a serious Grade 3 ACL injury. This forced him to leave Odisha FC in June.

This injury marked the first major setback in Krishna’s illustrious career and was a tough time for the Labasa-born forward.

During his time off the pitch, Krishna took the chance to complete a coaching course in India, a long-held ambition he finally pursued thanks to his injury.

“I’m feeling good, already moving well, there is no pain, and I can kick the ball. So I’m almost there, but there is a process, so I just need to follow, and this is the last stage, so I can’t just be very excited to jump onto the field.”

Krishna described the coaching course as both demanding and rewarding, giving him a deeper appreciation for coaches and the hard work that goes into training behind the scenes.

Although he values the coaching experience and sees it as a possible future path, Krishna remains fully focused on returning to play and reigniting his football career.
