“That means for the first time we will attract more international visitors to Fiji this year than there are people in the country and I think that is a significant milestone for Fiji and its industry.”

Stoeckel has also credited everyone for promoting Fiji as a holiday destination.

“It touches so many parts of our economy and all the services our government provides and of course industry operates and partners who run their fantastic hotels and resorts, our services providers and our transport providers have had a huge role in providing such world-class visitor experiences.”

He adds that visitors from New Zealand, North America, Japan, Singapore and the UK continue to increase.
