The 20-year-old woman and her 28-year-old partner who allegedly murdered a two-year-old girl have been remanded.

Christopher Narayan and Luisa Maria Kumar appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at Nasinu Court at midday.

The two have been charged with murder.

It is alleged Narayan and Kumar murdered Kumar’s daughter on Monday last week.

The victim was allegedly found lying unconscious in their Nakasi home by her mother.

She was rushed to the Valelevu health center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The post-mortem revealed the child sustained serious injuries resulting in her death.

Upon further inquiry, the investigators discovered that Narayan and Kumar had allegedly been fighting and the child was caught in the middle of the dispute.

The prosecutor says it is an indictable offense and applied for an application for the case to be heard at the High Court.

Magistrate Hamza approved the application.

The case will be recalled next Friday at the Suva High Court.
