Prasad wins Suva Marathon 10k race

28-year-old Fiji rep Rajeshwar Prasad finished first in the Suva Marathon 10 kilometre race this morning in the men’s senior category.

Prasad ran a time of 38 minutes.

Prasad says despite the win, he was not satisfied with his time.

“It was amazing but not happy with my time and still have to improve a lot. Today there was not much competition and most good runners couldn’t make it today they were busy so looking forward for better competition next time.”

Prasad just recently competed in the half marathon in Auckland where he finished 32nd. He ran a time of 1 hour and 20 minutes out of the six thousand competitors.

Meanwhile, Keir Barnes won the men’s junior category in the five kilometre race.
Barnes ran a time of 22 minutes and 57 seconds.

More than 60 runners from all walks of life participated in the Suva Marathon event this morning at the Suva Bowling Club.
