Bainimarama disappointed with ignorant influential people

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has voiced his disappointment with those educated and influential people who feel no sense of urgency to solve the crisis of depleting oceans.

Bainimarama told world leaders at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco that there is a great need to act now.

He says we cannot sit by and watch the sea take our territory and drown our mangroves and atolls.

The Prime Minister adds the Pacific, refusing to sit exposed and defenceless before Category 5 cyclones any longer.

Hence, he is calling on everyone to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves.

Bainimarama says the Ocean Pathway Partnership will ensure that oceans are an integral part of the UNFCCC process by 2020.
