The Accident Compensation Commission will be working with business houses and employees who drive company vehicles or transport goods from one place to another.

Chair Parvez Akbar says there have been instances when drivers have pulled shifts and are sleep deprived.

Akbar says in such cases, some have been lucky to survive while other accidents has resulted in loss of life.

“Excessive hours driving on the road without rest can also lead to situations like when driver fatigue will kick in and at some point in time, the body will give up and you can just doze off and the outcome can be fatal.”

Akbar says driver fatigue is not often talked about and it becomes everyone’s personal responsibility to ensure that they rest well before driving.
