CABG Surgery to be done in Fiji

The Open Heart Surgery called the Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting will soon be done in Fiji.

Minister for Health Rosy Akbar as they’ve received expression of interest from overseas surgeons.

The Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting is a type of surgery that improves blood flow to the heart.

Akbar says patients will no longer need to travel to India to acquire this service as they will soon provide it.

Akbar confirms the surgery used to be provided by the Sahyadri Hospital however their contract has ended.

With a lot of Fijians requiring Open Heart surgery, Akbar says this once only overseas specialist operation will be made available locally in the not too distant future.
