Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, says better management of the economy has not only brought us growth, it has put more money back in the pockets of ordinary people.

Bainimarama says government raised the income tax threshold last year, giving thousands of Fijians more spending power.

He adds this has benefited retailers who have noticed a big spike in consumer spending.

“The Fiji we know today wasn’t built by talk, smiles and false promises – which is all that those in the Opposition have to offer – it has been built by my Government’s commitment to deliver real development that is making real differences in the lives of the Fijian people.”

Bainimarama says the economy is booming and unemployment is now the lowest we’ve seen in thirty years.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the official opening of the $30m Tappoo City Lautoka Complex over the weekend.
