People need to take heed of advisories: Tudravu

In light of the current weather situation as advised by the Nadi weather office, police are requesting members of the public to take heed of the advisories and take the necessary safety precautions.

Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu says the heavy rain alert is bound to cause flash flooding in some areas and your safety and your loved ones must be prioritized at all times.

Tudravu says children’s activities must also be monitored and as to date they have recorded 11 drownings involving children under the age of 10 years.

Meanwhile, drowning death toll stands at 23 compared to 36 for the same period last year.
