Fiji must not end the 16 days of Activism and its fight on violence against women, this Christmas season.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa reminded her officials that gender inequality must be inculcated into everything they do every-day.

“Our role is too important to take lightly and wish to remind us that it is this season, that we note the highest numbers of child abuse and violence against women cases. Let us remain true to our roles while we enjoy the season."

Vuniwaqa also acknowledged the work of the church leaders who have been preaching the same message in addressing this issue.

“I am really happy seeing the efforts of stakeholders, that they have been coming out especially the Council of Churches, the leaders declaring Sunday as “ Break the Silence” all across the churches. Even coming up with a video in conjunction with UN Women.”
