A South African diplomat who allegedly caused the death of a 26 year old Ashneel Singh in a road accident has reportedly died.

South African media, Independent Online reports, Theo Mostert former Manager Corporate Services for the High Commission in Suva died early this month.

The cause of death is not disclosed.

Mostert was driving the vehicle which allegedly hit Singh and his fiancée who were enroute to the cinema last October.

The Fiji government had asked South Africa to waive diplomatic immunity in order to prosecute Mostert.

Talks between both countries were continuing at the time of his death.
