Minister of Fisheries and Forests Osea Naiqamu says the ministry has reduced the number of fishing license and regulations are in place to combat over fishing.

This is after Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka today highlighted in Parliament the economic downfalls of fish exports in the country.

“Especially on the offshore management decree and also the regulations and also we have reduced the number of license in the past it was normally 110 current government has reduced it to 60 and we also put in place monitoring system at our HQ to monitor all the fishing activities within our waters."

Naiqamu is advising all fishermen to keep up to date with the various regulations being put forward by his ministry.
