New FNPF CEO to be appointed in 2016

August 25, 2015 1:12 am

A new chief executive officer for the Fiji National Provident Fund will be appointed next year.

According to the FNPF’s board chairman Ajith Kodagoda, the position is expected to be advertised next month with a shortlist to be finalized by the end of year.

“We’re just decided to initiate the process and hopefully before end of the year, we will have at least somebody selected so in 2016, we’ll probably have the new CEO in place, we are advertising the position in the next 2 to 3 weeks, really we don’t need to, all the divisional managers and general management seems to be in charge and running the show, you wouldn’t even know the difference that there was no CEO.”

Former FNPF CEO Aisake Taito held the post for 7 years before reportedly choosing not to renew his contract which expired at the end of June this year.

While at the helm, a number of reforms were undertaken by the fund one of which led to a $327 million write down in value of pensioners’ savings.
