Police officers told not to take law into their own hands

Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald has advised police officers to uphold the law and not take it into their own hands.

Groenewald made the statement at a graduation ceremony for Regular Officers in Suva.

Speaking to 111 Regular police officers who graduated from the basic recruit course, Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald stressed the importance of maintaining law and order.

‘’It all depends on your attitude and how you perform your work, people are not born with a particular attitude but acquires it through experience, the decision is yours you are either a good cop or a bad cop’’.

Groenewald says transparency is vital for police officers to carry out their work and deliver quality service to the public.

Groenewald also highlighted that police officers should always preserve peace and work towards the protection of citizens.
