Seek medical assistance: Dr Kama

April 10, 2015 8:17 pm

The Health Ministry is advising the members of the public to be more vigilant of dengue cases and present themselves to the nearest health facility if they experience symptoms.

National Adviser Communicable Diseases – Dr Mike Kama says while the Ministry is doing its best to curb this disease, the public needs to take responsibility as well.

Dr Kama says currently the Ministry is awaiting the outcome of the Guppy Fish pilot project which was introduced earlier this year to help reduce dengue cases.

“We have trialed the integrated vector management strategy and it is just for the Ministry to review its benefits and outcome and we will see how we will apply it to the general population or the general community around Fiji, so that is yet to come.”

Kama says it’s a biological process which helps eradicate dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
