Fiji Bati’s Mikaele Ravalawa’s try was not enough to give hope to his St George Illawara side a chance at the finals as they went down 36-22 against Roosters in round 23 of NRL last night.

The Roosters had jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Dragons got one back before half time, and then the Red V scored twice after the break to jump ahead and set up a shock upset.

James Tedesco set up his side’s first three tries and four all up, racking up more than 300 metres with three line breaks and 12 tackle busts.

A win would have kept the Dragons level on competition points with the Sharks, Titans, and Raiders who are all battling for eighth spot on the ladder.

In another match last night, the Broncos edged the Warriors 24-22.
