WAF to start water rationing

September 7, 2018 6:52 pm

If the long dry spell continues, the Water Authority of Fiji will begin water rationing.

WAF Board Director Kamal Goundar says this will help provide water for necessities for all Fijians affected by the dry weather.

He says due to the water levels dropping at most water sources in the Western and Northern Division, low water pressure is also being experienced.

He says people need to start using water wisely.

“Conserve water by minimising on the washing of cars, driveways and also watering of gardens. So if they could minimise all these and use water wisely for essential services, then we will be able to manage our water properly.”

Goundar is urging people in affected areas to store enough water as unplanned water cuts may be experienced.

He says those living in rural areas need to fill their buckets and drums on days when water is being carted to avoid further inconvenience.
