The Ministry of Employment’s Occupation and Health Safety unit is currently reviewing the MHCC complex construction.

This is in light of the closure of the carpark this week and the installation of props in between the structure.

In an emailed response to FBC News, the OHS Director Tomasi Kama has revealed that they are aware of the issue and are currently in the process of consultation with the MHCC management, their engineers and other stakeholders.

Suva City Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Bijay Chand says they have also held talks with the MHCC’s management and continue to carry out joint inspections whilst deliberating on the next course of action.

Chand says they expect the MHCC management to make a public announcement later this week on the situation.

Several attempts to contact MHCC’s Manager Properties Daniel Whippy has been futile.

Earlier this week, posts of social media circulated of the carpark been closed.
