EU invest more than half a million dollars in Valuing Voices project

More than half a million dollars has been utilized by the European Union in Fiji in ensuring that voices of the vulnerable are heard.

EU representative in the Pacific, Ingrid Swinnen says they are partnering with the British Council to ensure that voices of the media, women and children and their needs are met.

Swinnen says under the Valuing Voices project, the EU continues to support human rights advocacy, human rights issues and media freedom.

“The European Union is strongly committed to human rights and gender equality and we support and provide funds for such projects at national, regional and international levels.”

Swinnen says they have been partnering with the Council for four years now in the Pacific to help them express their issues and ways it could be solved.

Other programs funded by the EU under the Valuing Voices includes Digital Dialogue and Citizen Stories.
