Close to fifty people are currently stranded at the Nausori Police Station and have been stopped from going to their homes.
Speaking to FBC News, Police Constable Karalaini Vakacegu, says they have ceased operations for now due to the power blackout however, they will continue patrolling again when the rain ceases.
Constable Vakacegu says the fifty that have been stranded were on their way from Suva to return to their respective homes in Tailevu, Rewa and neighboring communities in Nausori, however there was no transport available.
While the people complained of the cold and wanting to go home, they have been advised that movements are being restricted as there is a curfew in place.
Constable Vakacegu adds they are also not releasing anyone to go to their homes for their own safety as strong winds and heavy rain continue in Nausori.
