Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel believes the return of the Extra Battle of the Giants to Ba will provide a major boost for the tournament as the district prepares to host the event for the first time in 13 years.
Patel says there is added significance in Ba hosting the competition, given the tournament’s deep roots in the district.
With the competition set to be staged at the newly upgraded Four R Stadium at Govind Park, Patel expects a strong turnout from football fans.
“It will be very big. If you look at the stadium, the setup, the way the stadium is built, the capacity and the facilities themselves, it will be exciting.”
Patel believes supporters will appreciate the improved match-day experience offered by the venue.
“This is what every football-loving fan would love to see, a good facility to watch the game of football and better ground facilities.”
He also expects the upgraded stadium to provide extra motivation for players and teams competing for one of Fiji football’s most prestigious trophies.
“This will give the extra boost to the players and also the teams to go ahead and win it.”
The Extra Battle of the Giants will be held at Four R Stadium, Govind Park, from September 4 to 6 and September 12 to 13.
