Beauden Barrett believes his revolutionary dual playmaker role with Richie Mo’unga is on the verge of netting some rich rewards for the All Blacks.

Saturday night at Eden Park, when the All Blacks seek to complete a Bledisloe Cup redemption mission against the Wallabies, would, of course, be the perfect time for Steve Hansen’s master plan to come to fruition.

The two-time world player of the year, who has moved away from his preferred starting spot to accommodate Hansen’s desire to have two playmakers on the park at the same time, says he can feel a breakthrough coming.

So far, through the drawn test against the Springboks and heavy defeat to the Wallabies in Perth last Saturday, the decision to move Barrett to 15 and start Richie Mo’unga at 10 has produced mixed results. Some pundits had been calling for Barrett to be restored to first five prior to Hansen confirming that part of his lineup would be unchanged for Saturday.

Barrett has played pretty well in both matches – apart from getting steamrolled by Samu Kerevi out wide in Perth last week – though Mo’unga has yet to find his fluent form from the Crusaders.
