The Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights in Savusavu
The Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights is concerned with the low public turnout at its consultations on the Code of Conduct Bill.
There was no oral submissions when the Committee was in Labasa yesterday and in Savusavu this morning, the Committee heard only one oral submission.
Committee Chair, MP Alvick Maharaj says they, however, have received quite a number of written submissions.
Committee Member, Mosese Bulitavu says this is also the case for all other standing committee consultations.
Following the lone oral submission from Savusavu, the Committee discussed ways it can better reach out to the public.

Suggestions made included creating billboards, flyers, use the networks with village heads and district representatives, involve advisory counsellors and working closely with the media.
Maharaj also highlighted that they should focus on generating the interest of the public to attend such consultations.
