There’s a huge demand for human resource practitioners around the country.

Fiji Human Resource Institute President Kameli Batiweti says there is a good number of human resource practitioners that organizations are looking for in vacancies via traditional forms of advertisements.

However, a new trend the Institute has commended is the use of social media to recruit HR experts.

Batiweti highlighted that one in particular is LinkedIn – a business and employment-oriented service that operates via websites and a mobile app.

“LinkedIn now is a platform that’s attracting a lot of interest in human resources so organizations now track practitioners whom they now attract into their organization. We traditionally used to go through newspapers and advertisements but there’s a change now and a shift coming in, in social media.”

LinkedIn is mainly used for professional networking, including employers posting jobs and job seekers posting their CVs.

It allows both workers and employers to create profiles and connections to each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional relationships.
