A 35-year-old casual laborer, who allegedly murdered a 14-year-old girl of Viria Settlement in Naitasiri, has appeared in the Nausori Magistrate Court.

Mukesh Lal has been charged with one count of murder and has been remanded in custody until Friday.

Lal will reappear in the Suva High Court.

Its alleged Lal killed Ashna Devi late last month.

Devi was found dead in a vacant house two days after she was reported missing by her family.

Lal was found injured beside the student and was admitted at the CWM Hospital.
He was charged with murder upon his release from hospital.
