4 Ministries collaborate to monitor current weather situation

Four government ministries have collaborated to monitor the current weather threat.

The four Ministers met yesterday in Suva to discuss what needs to be done to be fully prepared.

All emergency operation centers have now been activated around the country.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Jone Usamate says that rainfall is one of the major concerns at the moment.

“We anticipate that our biggest concern for right now is not the wind but the rainfall and the impact that this might have in terms of flooding.”

Waterways Minister, Mahendra Reddy confirms that they’ve set up a team known as Waterways and Environment Clearing (WEC) to be on standby for any serious impacts of Tropical Depression 03F.

“Each team will have to its disposal a hype truck, chain saws, manpower and 4×4 vehicle to clear any debris. So if anyone calls the WEC team they will quickly go and clear the debris so that the water can flows.”

The Four Ministries include the Ministry of Waterways, Ministry of Health, Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure and the Defense Ministry

The Ministers are also advising Fijians to keep an eye on their children and keep them safe and away from flood prone areas and waterways of all kinds.
