Central/Eastern divisions to expect wet weather until the weekend

September 26, 2018 12:45 am

Residents in the central and eastern divisions can expect the current wet weather to continue for the next few days.

This comes as a trough of low pressure continues to gradually move towards the group from the west with associated cloud and showers expected to affect the Fiji group from today.

This will affect the southern parts of Viti Levu from Pacific Harbor to Nausori as well as Kadavu and the Southern Lau group.

The Fiji Meteorological Services says there will also be thunderstorms and heavy falls in the afternoon.

Other parts of the country can expect cloudy conditions with some showers in the evening.

However, showers are expected over most parts of the country by Friday and expected to clear by the end of the weekend.

A strong wind warning is also expected to be issued for the Fiji waters and over the land areas of Lomaiviti and the Lau group.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Roads Authority are advising residents in the central division to be aware of localized flooding.

The FRA says they’re currently monitoring several low lying roads and crossings, including the Veisari Slip on Queens Road.
