But did you know there is a grandfather and grandson combination as well in the team?¤

Jale Vatubua, Ben Volavola and Alivereti Veitokani hail from the district of Tokatoka in Tailevu but Vatubua and Volavola are related.

Volavola’s grandfather Penioni Dabea says both Volavola and Vatubua have maternal links to Nabitu village.

‘We are related to the mother he’s (Jale Vatubua) from Vanuadina, Tokatoka but the mother from our mataqali here in Nabitu and that’s how they become related to the family’

 Vatubua and Volavola didn’t know of their relationship until Dabea told them one day.

Dabea adds based on their relationship Ben Volavola is Vatubua’s grandson.

‘Vatubua’s mother she is my aunty so I think he (Ben) is going to call Vatubua grandfather’.

The Volavola family just can’t wait to watch Ben in action today.
